We turn our attention to the story of Jairus’ ill daughter and a woman with a blood issue. From these two events with Jesus we learn about faith and prayer and how our faith interweaves in our prayer. What role does faith play in our prayer life is what we look at today.

For what do we pray? For sure you will answer, “Everything.” However, from this passage, James identifies specific things we are to pray for. We close by asking and answering, “Who can be a great prayer warrior?”

Confident Prayer Builds Persistence

In this study on Breakthrough Prayer we look at the parable Jesus told about the widow woman who kept asking a judge to make right a wrong that had been done to her. From this we learn about persistent prayer. We tend to think we loose heart so we stop praying when actually we stop praying and therefore lose heart.

Biblical Prayer Builds Confidence

It is important to pray biblically as that will help build confidence in our prayers. In our time today we examine two prayers – a Pharisee and a tax collector. From these prayer we learn about three prayer repellents and three prayer accelerants.

Why Don’t We Pray

Today we wrestle with the question why don’t we pray? We examine several reasons; but, it comes down to we do not truly believe prayer works. We lose hope because it seems God does not answer our prayers.
In this passage from James we learn that what might be keeping us from having a breakthrough in our prayer life is we are praying wrongly.

We looked last week at the Jews experiencing relief and rest after the defeat of Haman’ edict. We also discovered that relief and rest were not ends in themselves but led to rejoicing, a celebration – a worship service. Today we see all this culminated in an act of remembrance.
