James 4:11-17
When we lack humility through faith, we can easily take on the role of playing God. Sometime we do that in our own lives when we walk through life ignoring God’s input in our direction. We also are prone to do it in the lives of others with a critical, judging, defaming attitude. James gets us to evaluate our lives to ensure we have a faith the works so as to not live like this.

James 5:1-6
In this passage James encourages us to take a look at how we handle our finances. Worldly wisdom tells us to get all we can get, use whatever means necessary to get it, and spend it on yourself. Godly wisdom has a much different approach to how we handle our finances. So, when money talks – what do you let it tell you?

James 5:7-12
When we are wronged by someone or natural response is not normally one of grace but one of how can we get exact revenge. In this passage, James teaches us to be patient, establish our hearts, and to not complain by adjusting the focus of our thoughts when we are wronged.

James 5:13-20
In this final message from James we learn about how powerful prayer can be. Prayer in this context is prayer concerning restoring our brothers and sisters who are wandering from the faith. We are taught how to pray for them and to actively purse one who wanders and help brig them back.

Zechariah 9
In this first sermon we look at the importance of the choice – Make King Jesus Lord of your life. This is the most important choice you will ever make and this is the choice upon which all the other choice hinge. Our text is Zechariah 9 which teaches us why Jesus is worthy to be our Lord.

Psalm 56
Our choice this week deals with fear. From David’s prayer in Ps 56 we see that our way to overcome fear is to replace it with faith. We can follow David’s example on how to take our fear to God and give Him praise in the midst of fear.

Matthew 18:21-35
This week we look at choosing forgiveness over revenge. From Matthew 18:21-35 we learn forgiveness is a choice and we are to choose to forgive because God’s forgiveness of us is unlimited and if we choose unforgiveness it destroys us and everyone around us. However, we sometimes lean on our own understanding and attempt to deal with someone who wrongs us in an unbiblical manner. We have to choose to forgive because we can not undo the past and we are not designed by God to carry the load of unforgiveness.

John 11:1-27
This week we look at John 11 and learn how the disciples, Mary and Martha have a short sighted perspective of their circumstance when Lazarus dies. Jesus gently uses this situation to teach He has a long sighted perspective on life and works our circumstances out for His glory. From this passage we learn how to choose hope when you can’t see the outcome of your circumstance and when your circumstance leads you to think God is unloving because we know God is protecting us and uses every circumstance to build our faith.

Matthew 6:25-34
This week we deal with worry. Worry is destructive to our lives not only physically but spiritually. Worry causes us to doubt God will keep His promises and is able to care for us. Taking Jesus’ teaching from Matthew 6 we see that we have no reason to worry and then Jesus teaches us how we, through His help, are able to choose trust over worry.

John 21:1-14
This is the final week of our Choices series. In the story John records of the disciples going fishing after Jesus had been crucified and they returned home to Galilee. Jesus teaches that He is near us when we feel destitute and any effort to fix the situation out of our own effort is utterly futile. Jesus offers fulfillment and will provides abundantly during our times of feeling destitute.
