Don’t Back Down

Having provided encouragement to Timothy to persevere, Paul exhorts Timothy to stand up for his faith and not back down. This is a good word for us today to stand, be willing to suffer and serve the Lord without shame. Knowing Christ and trusting Him to care for us should stir within us the willingness to stand no matter the cost.

Encouragement to Persevere

The Apostle Paul wrote this letter to his ministry partner, Timothy, who was a pastor in Ephesus. It is clear that Timothy was going through difficult times and Paul wanted to encourage Timothy to persevere in his faith. In the opening of his letter, Paul gave Timothy 4 points of encouragement telling him, and us, God has a plan for our lives, we are surrounded by people who love us, we have genuine faith and we have nothing to fear.

Indescribable Gift

God told Paul in 2 Corinthians 9 to tell us about His indescribable gift. So, what make the gift of Jesus so indescribable? Since it is indescribable it is impossible to describe or understand. However, if we can view the gift through the lens of why He sent the gift and how He sent the gift we will develop a clearer picture of why this gift is so indescribable.

Mary’s Christmas Song

Zechariah’s Christmas Song

After 400 years of silence, God speaks delivering the message the time has come for the Messiah to arrive. The first part of this message was given to an unlikely priest named Zechariah. He was told he would be the father of John, the one who would prepare the way of the coming Messiah. Zechariah lifts up a song praising God for his salvation, promise, and that his son would be given the opportunity to serve in this way.

Isaiah’s Christmas Song
