Titus 3:9-15
We come to the conclusion of this letter and we learn from the Apostle Paul there are times when ministry is tough. Specifically, sometimes church leadership is required to deal with divisive people who refuse to repent. Paul teaches Titus, and us today, how church leadership is to handle people if this occurs.

Titus 3:1-8
In this passage, Paul continues to stress to Titus that healthy doctrine leads to devotion of good works. Paul sets his appeal in the context of the gospel. He reminds Titus then, and us today, that our lives used to look one way but now through the gospel we have been redeemed to look wholly different both in the Church, and in society. A healthy Christ follower and Church devote time to things that are profitable while avoiding things that are worthless.

In chapter 2 Paul turns his attention to the members of the church at Crete and instructs Titus to have a family chat teaching the older men and women, along with the younger men and women, how to live rightly before the culture in which they live. A life that shines godliness into an ungodly culture.

Titus 1:10-16
We finish chapter 1 in our study today. In this passage Paul tells us why elders are to be able to teach sound doctrine and refute those who contradict it – there are people in the church who are contradicting sound doctrine. You can identify them as ones who are rebellious and deceiving other families in the church. We learn who are the wolves in sheep’s clothing.

We move in our study from the roles and responsibilities of an elder to the qualifications of an elder. In this first part we examine the mandate from Scripture that the office of elder is reserved for men only and that he is to be above reproach. Titus 1:1a
In the introduction of this letter to Titus, the Apostle Paul identifies himself as a slave and and apostle, the authority, which Titus and the church at Crete were under. We can learn from these identifying characteristics how we today are to be Christ’s slaves and we too are under that authority of Scripture.
